We bred and raised Bambi. She was slowly started under saddle with limited rides as a 2 year old by a small rider. She won $$ and did well in barrel race futurities as a 4 and 5 year old, until she picked up pigeon fever at barrel racing finals. She got quite sick, and never returned to the barrel racing arenas. Bambi has carried flags in parades, had a rope swung off of her as a youngster, entered a horse show or two, given some riding lessons to some experienced youth riders, and has had one foal in 2026. Bambi could not have been any better with a rider after 2 years of not being ridden. Zero lunging before being ridden as well.
Bambi’s bloodlines scream top notch barrel and rope bloodlines. A full sister to Bambi’s mom win over $10k running barrels, and also earned over 100 APHA points running barrels. She also has points in pole bending.
Bambi’s grandsire on her bottom side earned 288 APHA points with superiors in heading, heeling and steer stopping. He also earned points in barrels, poles and reining. These powerful bloodlines go back to the Hall Of Fame sire Barlink Macho Man.
Bambi’s sire has an impressive record running barrels. He is quiet enough for the owners daughter to compete on this stallion to run barrels with at high school rodeo events. He packed this youth to win state high point all around youth. That is a tough task. His bloodlines need no introduction, as his grandsire is Dash For Perks.
We are looking for a home preferably as a trail horse or a broodmare. Bambi does have some scar tissue in one of her lungs from the pigeon fever she had, and veterinarians at that time recommend a riding discipline's that won’t need a lot of heavy breathing. The lung capacity Bambi can handle is unknown, and her price reflects this. PPE’s are welcome at buyers expense. She travels a bit stiffer as compared to when she was running barrels as a 5 year old, but she is very out of shape. She has been barefooted, and we put shoes in her a few weeks ago. Our farrier was out a couple of days ago, and did hoof testers on Bambi’s hooves. He squeezed as hard as he could on all four hooves, and never got a single response. She runs around in her pasture just fine. She handled carrying a foal and delivered the foal with zero problems. Her water broke, and foal was completely out in 8 minutes and 23 seconds lol. Bambi is 5 panel negative.
